Sheathing materials are selected according to customer requirements and the application in which the cable is to be used. We currently offer different grades of PVC, Polyurethane, Autoprene rubber, and high performance TPE-Es. The selection of sheathing material will be influenced by special environmental factors such as:
  • Chemicals
  • Fuel
  • Resistance to abrasion
  • Extreme temperature ranges

The choice of the sheath material and coil diameter will determine the coil extension. We can manufacture coils with an extension ratio from 3:1 up to 15:1.

Our wide range of precision stripping and crimping machines allow us to offer a number of different end preparation services, including simple sheath stripping, core stripping, tinning or termination with ferrules.

New core colour codes

  • BS 7671:2001 (Flexible cable to BS6500)
  • DIN/VDE 0293-308
  • IEC 60304

There has been an agreement to produce a standard designed to harmonise core identification throughout Europe. Autac Products Ltd will be phasing in these new colours starting from May 2005 for all of its power cables. The electronic cables and automotive cables range will not change. It will still be possible to use the old colour codes up to April 1st 2006. After that date only the new colour codes may be used. Below is a table comparing the old and new colour standards.

The above changes will be introduced whenever new cable is manufactured after May 1st 2005, and the “old” style colours will still be used whilst existing cable stock is available. There will therefore be a gradual conversation to the new colour standard. If you require any further clarification please contact the sales team at Autac on 01625 619277.

Please also note that all of our cables now meet the standards for RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC. For further information, please see our news page.
